After my mother’s death my brother in law gave me a camera with a 200 asa film to take photographs of my mother’s house, inside and out, before it was sold. It was as she had left it the day she went in to hospital. It had been our only family home and it seemed appropriate at the time to record it. When the photos came out they were disappointing. They lacked detail or accuracy of colour, thanks in part to the film I had used and the failings of the camera.
